Subject: RE: Town Board Members' Home Addresses

Section 89(7) of the Freedom of Information Law states in part that the home addresses of
present or former government officers or employees need not be disclosed. I point out,
however, that the Freedom of Information Law does not prohibit disclosure, and that other
provisions of law may require disclosure of home addresses. For instance, a voter
registration list maintained by a county board of elections includes the names and addresses
of all registered voters and is accessible pursuant to a provision in the election law.

Similarly, assessment records indicating the names of owners and locations of real property
are accessible.

I hope that I have been of assistance.
